1. General Rules

All USGA Rules of Golf shall apply.

2. Four-ball Matches

a. Assignment

Prior to the matches, the captains will agree on a method for matching teams, and determine the assignments.

b. Format

On a given hole, the team which has the player with the lowest total will win the hole. If at least one member from each team matches the lowest score, the hole will be halved. A match is won by the side which is leading by a number of holes greater than the number of holes remaining to be played.

c. Handicap

Official event handicaps will be used according to the rules of golf. The person with the lowest handicap will not receive strokes. The other players will subtract the low handicap from theirs to determine the number of holes for which they get strokes.
See USGA Handicap Rule 9-3

d. Point Value

Each twosome that wins a match will yield one point for their team. If a match is halved, a half point will be given to each team.

e. Order of Play

Balls belonging to the same side may be played in the order the side considers best.

f. Additional Rules

All rules of golf apply, including Rule 30 regarding four-ball match play.

3. Foursome Matches

a. Assignment

Captains agree on team matchups prior to matches.

b. Format

Two play against two, with each side playing one ball. Players alternate tee shots and shots during play. The hole is won by the lowest score. The match is won by the side ahead by more holes than remain.

c. Handicap

Event handicaps for each side are added. The difference is divided by two and rounded down.
Example: Team A (6 + 9 = 15), Team B (7 + 14 = 21). Difference = 6; 6 / 2 = 3. Team A gives 3 strokes.
See USGA Handicap Rule 9-3

d. Point Value

Each twosome win earns 1 point; a halved match earns 0.5 for each team.

e. Order

If a player plays when their partner should have, their side loses the hole.

f. Additional Rules

All golf rules apply, including Rule 29 on foursome match play.

4. Pairs Matches

a. Assignment

Captains decide the method of assigning pairings.

b. Format

Standard match play format. Match is won when one player leads by more holes than remain.

c. Point Value

Each individual match win earns 1 point for their team.

d. Handicap

Players use event handicaps. Strokes are based on the difference between handicaps. (e.g., a 13 vs. 17 gives 4 strokes).
See USGA Handicap Rule 9-3

5. Event Handicap Rules

  • Players must report a USGA index or reasonable substitute.
  • If no index is provided, players may submit recent scores.
  • If neither is available, the committee will estimate the handicap based on past Cup play and apply a 20% deduction penalty.
  • Failure to conform to ESC (Equitable Stroke Control) rules results in a 10% adjustment.

6. Matchup Selection

  • The non-cup-holding team chooses first in one format (Fourball or Foursomes), cup-holders go first in the other.
  • Before the Pairs round, the non-cup-holders again choose first or defer.
  • Captains alternate declaring pairings; passing is not allowed.
  • Order of play follows pairing order, unless mutually changed by captains.

7. Scoring

Players should mark both scores per hole, even in Fourball. If a player doesn’t finish, estimate their score.

8. Tees

All play shall be from the blue tees.
