Hole "Creek" 373 Yards Par 4 Handicap: 9 Difficulty Ranking: 11
This medium length par 4 is enhanced by playing the championship tees which sit among a small apple orchard. Why it is a challenge to get by these trees is a mystery, but several tee shots have rattled the trees in recent years and left the player with no options. Left is a no-no as OB runs the entire length of this hole's left side. Club selection on the tee is critical. The player must carry the ball 215 yards to insure clearance of the creek which crosses the fairway (even the "committee" has chosen to lay up in recent years). The favored shot by most veterans of this hole is a high-block to the right, which will leave a short iron to a very receptive green. The putting surface, while receptive, is not an easy two-putt. This green slopes dramatically from back to front and many players are left with 30 ft. or more to navigate. For a mid-handicapper it is crucial that you leave the first three holes no more than one or two over par. Grab a birdie and you should be leading your sleep deprived, hung-over opposition.
