5th Hole
In theory this is the easiest four-par to birdie until you stand in the chute at the highest point on the front nine. Tee shots slightly off course will rattle the trees and a great break is required to salvage par. A solid tee shot will leave most players with no more than 110 yards to the putting surface. Even a slight push will leave the player to maneuver through the pines and willow trees lining the rough between the 4th and 5th holes. Players hit their approach shots into the smallest target at Concord and will be rewarded with a relatively short putt if the back to front sloped putting surface is attained. Those participating in the Cup multiple times usually hear a voice (either their partner or in their head) that screams "dont go over this green." Flying the green assures the player of the toughest up and down on the front nine. This hole has been halved with birdies and doubles and is the last somewhat friendly hole on the front side. Once youve completed the 5th, those who got to the course a little late can take care of business before the 6th tee shot. |
